Take the Surrey Primary Schools Recycle it Right Challenge to help your children learn how they can care for the environment, by recycling right!

It is easy to take part and your whole school could win great prizes!


The Recycle it Right Challenge will help you teach children and their families about the importance of recycling right.


It’s quick and easy to take part as a whole school, single class or eco team activity.


It is the perfect activity for a waste-themed day or week and all the resources are provided.


It offers a way to engage your pupils and their families to care for the environment in a fun, enriching and exciting activity, where pupils take ownership to make a positive difference.


Prestigious awards and exciting prizes are available for both participating schools and families.

Teachers introduce the Challenge to the whole school community using the Challenge Assembly, Presenter's notes and Parent Mail.

Alternatively, teachers can register to join the exciting webinar assembly on the 10 th March at 9am with Captain Busta to kick off the Recycle it Right Challenge.


Teachers give pupils their own Wastebuster accounts. See the Challenge Teacher’s Guide for details.


Pupils login and complete the Challenge online quiz in school or at home and invite their parents to pledge to recycle it right!

Teachers can use the Challenge Homework Sheet and Parent Mail to let pupils and parents know how to take part.


The schools with the highest percentage of pupils who complete the quiz and/or whose parents pledge will win one of lots of exciting awards and prizes. Families who enter will also be entered into a prize draw!

Each school that enters will be competing with other primary schools in Surrey to win fantastic prizes!


The school with the highest percentage of pupils who complete the quiz and the school with the highest percentage of families that make a pledge will both receive a winner’s certificate, a Captain Busta mascot (made from recycled plastic bottles) and an exciting celebration webinar assembly led by Captain Busta and friends beaming in from 'space'.


Schools with more than 20% of pupils completing the quiz will receive a certificate of achievement.


Every family that pledges enters the Recycle it Right Challenge prize draw for a chance to win a Busta mascot, Wastebuster Top Trumps, Green Science kits and even Odeon Limitless membership!

LIVE Recycle It Right Webcast Assembly

Join Captain Busta and friends for a Recycle It Right Challenge webcast assembly on the 10 th March at 9am to kick off the Challenge in your school with these dynamic intergalactic superheroes. Children will learn how the Challenge works, why they should recycle and some top recycling tips. This is the perfect way to inspire and motivate your children to take part in the Challenge.

If your pupils would like to have a chance to have any of their recycling questions answered by Captain Busta during the webinar, email them to before the 5 th March. Register your interest for more information.
